Wir haben 14 wunderschoene Tage hier auf der Corte di Langa verbracht. Ein wunderschoenes und aussergewoehnliches Objekt mit tollem Design der Suiten, eine Landschaft, wie wir sie bisher nicht kennnengelernt haben: Haselnussplantagen, Weinberge, romantische Orte, Burgen, Kirchen und Weingueter, ausgezeichnete Weine, Dolci, Menues und ein spannendes Terrain fuer’s Rennrad und zum Wandern. Vor allem aber herzlichen Dank an Claudia und Franco fuer die Einfuehrung und an Stefania und Claudio fuer die netten Abende auf der Veranda, den Wein, Gemuese, Gnocchi...und ihre wunderbare, zurueckhaltende Gastfreundschaft.

Jemand sagte uns, im Piemont koenne man gut Rad fahren. So kamen wir und fuhren die Berge ‚rauf und ‚runter.
...und assen soooo gute Sachen (die Pfirsiche!!!) und tranken Wein, Wein, Vino

Wir haben hier eine herrliche und kreative Woche verbracht – wuerden auch gerne noch laenger bleiben. Dank Eurer guten Tipps und Anregungen haben wir in der Kuerze der Zeit diese Gegend lieben gelernt. Wir haben uns bei Euch sehr wohl gefuehlt.
Fuer uns steht fest : wir kommen wieder !

We were tired and jet lagged having just arrived from Portland, Oregon and hungry. Franco and Claudia insisted on preparing us lunch. It was raining outside but inside their home we were warm and feeling very contented. Our new friends treated us to a lunch of perfectly cooked pasta, salad, featuring Franco's own deliciously simple preserved tomato sauce and of course, copious amounts of local wine. After lunch the couple escorted us through Canale d' Alba to our apartment for the week we would spend in Piedmont. Our residence was in a small Frazione just outside Canale. Our very large deck overlooked vineyards, if you are runner you will love this place. You can literally run miles on back roads and never see a car. The apartment was clean, very comfortable with a well supplied kitchen. There were two full bathrooms, important when you are travelling with your mom. On our first morning in Piedmont we drove over to Franco and Claudia's house. We got into their car and they took us to a friend's vineyard where we had a private tasting, then on to another friend's Salumi business. We returned in the afternoon and again our hosts insisted on making us lunch.Cured meats, salad, homemade bread and yes some great local wine poured from an unmarked 1.5 liter bottle that Franco seemed to have an endless supply of. The next day a visit to an Organic Flour Mill, a Cheese Cave followed by a lunch of the most incredible local cheeses accompanied by a local Pinot Noir (in honor of our coming from Oregon). Understand, none of this was expected by us. Claudia and Franco just do it because they love where they live and truly want to share it with their guests. We would have never had the experiences we had without their generosity and knowledge of the Piedmont area. One tip, the weather in early May is very unpredicatable so if you can travel a little later in the month or wait until June I would recommend you do so.

I traveled to Ca' Momplin from Toronto, Canada. My whole purpose of the trip was to visit the vineyards, wineries, and the Alps. I was successful in all. You can day-trip with your rental car to the French, Swiss or Italian Alps and back. I did....and it was awesome! The mountain roads are NOT for the faint-of-heart.
You can drive down to the Mediterranean Sea and back in 1/2 a day....or stay longer to go for a swim. Lyon, Nice & Monaco are all reachable in less than a 3 hr drive.
I was very pleased with Franco and Claudia's service and hospitality. The local shops in Canale are a must visit, as well as the Pizzeria. Ask Franco...he'll give you a map of the town and even call ahead to book you seating if needed. Stop in and have a Guinness at Peter Pan's....shop at the grocery store and make new friends with the locals.
The Villa (the Dependance) that I rented was humble yet sooooooo relaxing. There is a TV there, but I never turned it on.

Liebe Claudia, lieber Franco!
Wir haben 2 sehr angenehme Wochen hier verbracht. Besten Dank fuer die natuerliche Hilfsbereitschaft und das angenehme Nebeneinander, das das richtige Mass an Naehe und Distanz fuer uns gezeigt hat. Ungezwungene, gemeinsame Kurztrips rundeten das angenehme Gefuehl ab. Wir kommen gerne wieder.
