Has a completely new variety of Trufffles been found in Roero's Rocche???
This incredible news was reported on Thursday last on the "Gazzetta d'Alba" and other most important national and international papers (such as the Canale News, edited by the Major of Canale, as well as by the Eco-no-fog, a most distinguished international weekly financial magazine).
A press conference was hastily called on Friday evening at the Enoteca of Canale where it's president, and some other most distinguished local and national personalities showed up to clarify and/or understand.
What follows is a summary of what transpired at the said press conference:
"OF WHITE TRUFFLES AND OF PATRON SAINTS"
Take note that as per this very January 2011 a new truffle is born: The White Truffle of Alba “Rocche del Roero” ®. This trade marked denomination identifies and guarantees that the truffle in question hunted, served and possibly eaten in January of each and every year, are effectively from the Roero’s Rocche. In other words you are assured that them were not made in China or elsewhere. The said truffles, as well as the dogs, and the “trifulau” who have hunted and found them, will also be, from there on, protected by a new Saint Patron: San Antonio.
San Antonio, up to a few days ago, was only associated with things lost and found in Roero. He has since been promoted to protector of our "tifulau" and their dogs because he was portraid with a pig in a most famous "affresco" in the1400's. You have to know that in those day the pigs were, yes, rosted, but they were also used to hunt for truffles, with which they were then roasted.
Stay tuned on this Braking News, for more action as far as the Truffles “Rocche del Roero” ® are concerned: this coming Saturday, the 16th day of January 2011, Canale hosts the first such encounter between our “trifulau”, their dogs and their Saint Patron (San Antonio), we are assured, down from heaven for this unique opportunity.
Photo and News will then be published on this very website for your enjoyment."
